What is the nicest thing you've ever done for a stranger? What is the nicest thing a stranger has ever done for you?
The nicest thing I have ever done for a stranger...when I transferred to my current university, my friend and I thought it would be a good idea to go grocery shopping using our local bus system rather than one of our cars. What we didn't figure on is that on a Sunday the route which went by my dorm took a 4 hour break in the afternoon. It would have been fine for me, since I didn't have much.
However, when I got there, there were two international students who had a lot more stuff than I did. We would have had to wait at least two hours, and our dorm was over a mile away. So I asked them politely to watch my things and tromped up the hill to grab my car. When I got back, one girl was so happy that she started thanking me in Mandarin. (Which I don't speak.) I drove us all back to our dorm, and even though they had far more stuff than I did, they helped me carry it all to my room.
The nicest thing a stranger has ever done for me...when I was fourteen, I was cocky and stupid and ended up giving myself a severe sprain. The pain was bad enough that I was drifting in and out of consciousness. While my friend raced to get my parents, a lady (not an EMT) sat with me and talked, making sure I hadn't hit my head, etc. I have no idea what she said or who she was, but she made sure that I was okay, even though she had no clue who I was. Thanks, mysterious lady.
